Upcoming Workshop: Prostate Play 2/1/11

I love teaching people about new ways to enjoy sex and pleasure, especially when it’s on a topic that most people are unfamiliar with. I’ve heard from a lot of men and their partners that they’ve heard about how much fun prostate play can be, but they’re not sure how to make it work. Or maybe they’ve tried it and it wasn’t what they were expecting. It takes a little know-how to have it all come together.

I’m co-teaching a workshop in a couple of weeks at Good Vibrations about prostate play. We’ll cover everything you need to know about it, so you can go right home and try it out! Here’s the info- feel free to pass it on.

Sexual shame is one of the biggest challenges that sexuality educators face. The more we understand about how it works, the easier it is to develop strategies for responding to sexual shame. Charlie Glickman PhD will discuss the roots of shame, how it can both serve and hinder us, the ways that shame is used to reinforce social rules, and the differences between toxic shame and pro-social shame. Upcoming Workshop: Sexuality and Shame

Sexual shame is one of the most difficult pieces of sexuality for many people. Yet in my experience, talking about it and exploring it is also one of the most rewarding. Unlike many educators, I don’t see any value in trying to create a shame-free world, any more than I see a reason to create a world without anger, sadness, joy, or pleasure. Like all of our other emotions, shame is simply part of the human experience and I prefer to explore constructive ways that we can work with it. After all, I don’t think there’s any shame in feeling shame.

I’m really pleased to announce that I’ll be offering a workshop on the topic through San Francisco Sex Information. This workshop is open …

Teaching People How to Teach

I teach a quite a few different workshops, from sex & shame to sex-positivity to polyamory to BDSM and other sexual practices. And there’s one in particular that often gets some interesting reactions.

How to Be a Top Presenter is my workshop on how to teach workshops and classes. I developed it because I saw a lot of teachers and presenters who knew their subject, but simply didn’t know how to teach well. Often, they would use exercises and tools that didn’t suit their topic or the audience. Sometimes, the workshops were badly planned or simply didn’t flow. What I’ve noticed, though, is that whenever I announce that I’m offering this workshop, I often get a response along the lines of “Wow. That’s so …
